This year's recycling work at the Middle School built on the foundation
that was started but had the added benefit of a district mentorship
carried out by Jennifer Kalvass. the Recycling Club was formed
with students meeting at lunch time. A recycling logo contest was held throughout the network and Recycling Club members will
all get a tee shirt with the winning design. A careful examination
of the district's waste bills resulted in a saving of thousands
of dollars by making a small change in the waste collection schedule.
Waste audits were conducted at the Middle and Grammar School and
the students took field trips to the local recycling center in
Ft. Bragg and the large collection center in Santa Rosa. |

The recyclers worked with Karen Gridley from Waste Management
to set up a waste audit. Data was collected for the group to analyze
to see how efficient the recycling efforts were. |
