Connections

How does the project connect with our theme of people, history, and place? While designing their murals students consider their legacy to the school to
enhance a sense of place.

How does the project interact with the community? This project will allow the students to be proud of their school and the contribution they have made toward
its’ improvement.

How does the project connect with other NCRCN members/ sites?
Other NCRCN sites are welcome to observe our process and understand the theory that art can heal.

Student Learning:

How will the project improve student learning in relation to Holistic Learner Outcomes?:

  • Self Directed Learner: Students work at their own pace and are given plenty of time to work to their full potential, while being inspired by those around them.

  • Community Contributor: Students must learn to work as a group so the project can reach its full potential.

  • Constructive Thinker: Creating a work of art that will be part of a whole takes creative thinking and cooperation.

  • Quality Producer: Everyone is guided so they are successful. From planning to installation, great care will be given to aesthetics.

  • Effective Communicator: Art is a powerful communicator. I encourage each class to make a statement about who they are a group as well as an individual.
