Often seen perched on rocks or diving for fish along our coastline, this bird is distinguished by dark brown and black feathers. Juvenile birds may have a white belly. Since these bird dive for fish they spend a lot of time drying their feathers. Cormorants are often seen sitting on rocks with their wings spread in the sun. The feathers of the Black Cormorant were often worn in adornment by the coastal Native American.
Habitat/Range: This bird is seen on coastal rocks from Canada south to Mexico.
